Dessert King (aka: Desert King, or just "King") is a refreshing San Pedro fig variety with a very abundant breba crop. It was found in the 1920s as a wild seedling growing in the desert near Madera, California. The breba crop ripens early, while the main crop will not ripen without pollination (by the wasp Blastophaga psenes). Last year's wood must be protected from hard frosts (and not pruned excessively) if the tree is to bear a breba crop.
